LM25118MHX/NOPB Buck-Boost Switching Regulator DC-DC Controller IC 

The LM25118MHX/NOPB is a high-performance buck-boost switching regulator controller manufactured by Texas Instruments, engineered to deliver efficient DC-DC conversion across an exceptionally wide input voltage range of 3V to 42V. This controller employs emulated peak current mode control with an emulated current ramp, which significantly reduces the noise sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit and enables reliable operation at very small duty cycles required in high input voltage applications. The buck-boost topology ensures seamless output voltage regulation whether the input voltage is above or below the regulated output, making it an ideal choice for automotive and industrial power systems where input conditions fluctuate dramatically.

The controller features a programmable switching frequency up to 500kHz, oscillator synchronization capability, and an internal high-voltage bias regulator that simplifies external design requirements. Integrated high-side buck and low-side boost MOSFET gate drivers eliminate the need for external driver circuits, while the wide-bandwidth error amplifier delivers 1.5% feedback reference accuracy for precise output regulation. Additional protection features include current limiting, thermal shutdown, and an enable input for system-level power sequencing control. The programmable soft-start time and ultra-low shutdown current further enhance system reliability and efficiency during transient conditions.
