In September 2026, several semiconductor manufacturers released a wave of new products for automotive and industrial applications, covering four key areas: circuit protection, position sensing, current sensing, and motor drive.
Vishay introduced the XFD11KxxCA series, a new family of XClampR® bidirectional smooth-clamping transient voltage suppressors (TVS) in a DO-218AC surface-mount package. Under 10/1000 μs conditions, the series delivers peak pulse power dissipation equivalent to that of a conventional 11 kW TVS, while reducing the clamping ratio (VC/VBR) to nearly 1.0, significantly improving power density. The series includes 15 devices, with maximum clamping voltages from 40.6 V to 104.0 V and stand-off voltages from 33 V to 85 V, suitable for 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V automotive systems. Compared with conventional devices in the same package, peak pulse current at the same stand-off voltage is increased by approximately 1.6 times, reaching 207.1 A. Over an operating range of -55 °C to +175 °C, clamping and breakdown voltages remain stable, enabling lower-rated downstream components, reducing design margins, and lowering cost.
The Vishay MCB RAIK045I MP uses inductive sensing technology. Unlike magnetic solutions, it is immune to external magnetic fields and can operate reliably near motors. The device combines 16-bit resolution, ≥14-bit repeat positioning accuracy, and a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm, with absolute accuracy of ≥10 bits (0.35°). It features a compact, lightweight design measuring 45 mm in diameter and 6.6 mm in thickness. With SPI output and an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C, it is suitable for industrial robots, motor drives, conveyors, and AGVs.
Melexis launched the MLX91241, its first current sensor localized for production in China, manufactured by HHGrace. The product is a high-speed conventional Hall-effect current sensor IC, targeting high-power electrification applications such as EV traction inverters, 48 V energy recovery systems, DC-DC converters, and photovoltaic inverters. Engineering samples are now available.
MPS released the MPQ6609A-AEC1, an automotive-grade stepper motor driver. It supports a wide input voltage range of 4 V to 32 V, a maximum output current of 1 A, and up to 1/32 microstepping, and is compatible with SPI and STEP+DIR control. It features integrated current sensing, eliminating the need for an external sense resistor, and integrates a dual H-bridge with high-side/low-side MOSFET RDS(on) of 350 mΩ/230 mΩ. On an optimized two-layer PCB, the temperature rise is only 31 °C at 1 A output. Compliant with AEC-Q100 Grade 1, it is suitable for automotive actuators such as HVAC dampers, adaptive headlights, HUD adjustment, and thermal management electronic valves.
