ICM-42688-P is a high-performance six-axis inertial measurement unit from TDK InvenSense, integrating a three-axis accelerometer and three-axis gyroscope within a single 14-pin QFN surface-mount tape-and-reel package with RoHS compliance and MSL1 rating for automated SMT assembly. This industrial-capable sensor operates on a core supply of 1.8V with auxiliary 3.3V compatible I/O levels, supporting a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and delivers stable high-resolution motion data optimized for low-latency orientation tracking. It features factory-calibrated sensing elements with minimal cross-axis interference, communicates via fast SPI and I2C digital interfaces, and combines compact packaging with low power consumption to serve as a reliable motion core for consumer, industrial and robotics embedded hardware platforms.

This 6-axis IMU offers programmable full-scale ranges: accelerometer options up to ±32g and gyroscope ranges reaching ±2000dps, paired with integrated 16-bit analog-to-digital converters for precise motion digitization and on-chip low/high-pass digital filters to suppress mechanical vibration noise. Embedded self-test functionality validates accelerometer and gyro operation post-soldering without external test equipment, while built-in FIFO data buffer reduces host MCU interrupt frequency and power load by batch transferring motion samples.
