The MAX232CPE, developed by Maxim Integrated (now Analog Devices), is a classic dual-channel RS-232 transceiver designed for TTL/CMOS to RS-232 level conversion, housed in a robust 16-pin DIP package for through-hole assembly in legacy and industrial communication systems. Operating from a single +5V supply (4.5V–5.5V), it integrates an on-chip charge pump that generates the ±10V RS-232 voltage levels without requiring external ±12V power supplies, simplifying power supply design.
