The ATMEGA48PA-AU is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit AVR microcontroller manufactured by Microchip Technology (formerly Atmel), belonging to the AVR ATmega series. Housed in a 32-pin TQFP surface-mount package (7.00×7.00mm, 1.20mm height), it operates reliably over an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, supporting a wide supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V for flexible integration in various power systems. Equipped with a 20MHz maximum clock speed delivering up to 20 MIPS throughput, it features 4KB (2K×16) of in-system self-programmable Flash memory, 512 bytes of SRAM, and 256 bytes of EEPROM, with 10,000 Flash write/erase cycles and 100,000 EEPROM cycles for long-term reliability, and is RoHS-compliant with MSL 3 (168 hours) moisture sensitivity rating.

This MCU integrates a rich set of peripherals and power-saving features for versatile embedded applications. It adopts an advanced AVR RISC architecture with 131 single-clock-cycle instructions, 32×8 general-purpose working registers, and a 2-cycle multiplier for efficient processing. Peripherals include 23 programmable I/O pins, two 8-bit and one 16-bit timers/counters with compare modes, an 8-channel 10-bit ADC with configurable reference voltage, and communication interfaces (I²C, SPI, UART/USART) for seamless connectivity. It also features power-saving Pico Power® technology, multiple sleep modes (down to 0.1μA in power-down mode), power-on reset (POR), watchdog timer (WDT), and under-voltage lockout, along with ISP and IAP capabilities for convenient firmware updates without chip removal.
