The FT4232H-56Q-REEL from Future Technology Devices International (FTDI) is a high-performance, single-chip Quad Hi-Speed USB to Multipurpose UART/MPSSE (Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engine) interface IC. Housed in a compact 56-pin VQFN (Very-thin Quad Flat No-lead) package with an exposed pad, this device supports USB 2.0 High-Speed (480 Mbps) operation. It features four independent configurable channels, each capable of operating as a standard UART (supporting RS232, RS422, or RS485) or as an MPSSE channel for emulating protocols like JTAG, SPI, I²C, or Bit-Bang mode. The chip includes an integrated 1.8V LDO regulator, PLL for clock generation, and supports flexible I/O voltage levels (1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V), making it highly adaptable for interfacing with various logic families. With a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, it is suitable for industrial applications. The "REEL" suffix indicates the component is supplied in tape and reel packaging for automated SMT assembly.
