AT24C16C-SSHM-T is a 16-kbit (2,048 × 8) I²C serial EEPROM from Microchip Technology that offers true low-voltage, low-power non-volatile storage in a compact 4.9 × 3.9 mm, 1.75 mm-high SOIC-8 package qualified for –40 °C to +85 °C operation. Fabricated on an advanced CMOS process, it operates from 1.7 V to 5.5 V while drawing only 3 mA active current, supports 1 MHz clock at ≥2.5 V, and provides Schmitt-trigger inputs with noise-filter for robust two-wire communication. A 16-byte page-write buffer together with self-timed 5 ms internal write cycle and hardware write-protect pin simplify firmware, and 1 million erase/write cycles plus 100-year data retention meet industrial and commercial reliability demands without external wear-levelling.
Random-access time is 550 ns max, permitting fast boot-parameter fetches, while <1 µA standby current preserves battery life in portable nodes. The device tolerates accidental 5.5 V overshoot, survives 4 kV HBM ESD, and is shipped in MSL-1, RoHS/REACH-compliant tape-and-reel for high-volume SMT lines. Its wide voltage span allows direct connection to 1.8 V, 3.3 V or 5 V MCU buses, eliminating level-shifters and reducing BOM count to one decoupling capacitor.
