The MC33879APEK is a high-performance, 8-output configurable high-side/low-side switch manufactured by NXP Semiconductors. Housed in a 32-pin WSOIC (HSOP) package with an exposed pad, this device operates over a wide supply voltage range of 5.5V to 27.5V and supports an industrial/automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It features a 16-bit SPI interface for MCU control and fault reporting, with two dedicated PWM inputs for direct pulse-width modulation control. Built on NXP's SMARTMOS technology, it integrates CMOS logic, bipolar/MOS analog circuitry, and DMOS power MOSFETs for robust load driving.

This octal switch delivers 0.6A to 1.2A per output with a typical RDS(ON) of 0.75Ω at 25°C, supporting both high-side and low-side configurations. It includes output voltage clamping (+45V low-side, -20V high-side) for inductive load protection, open-load detection with disable capability for LED applications, and internal reverse battery protection. Additional features include 5µA maximum standby current at 13V, short-circuit detection with automatic retry, and independent overtemperature protection.
