NVT4857UKAZ CAN transceiver
The NVT4857UKAZ is a dual-port, high-speed CAN (Controller Area Network) transceiver from NXP Semiconductors, designed for robust and reliable serial communication in demanding automotive and industrial networks. Compliant with the ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284-1 to SAE J2284-5 standards, it supports CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) operation, enabling data rates up to 5 Mbps in the data phase for fast network response times. The device interfaces between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus, providing differential transmit and receive capability with excellent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Featuring a very low-current Standby mode with bus wake-up capability and remote wake-up request functionality, it is engineered for 12V and 24V automotive systems, making it ideal for power-efficient, always-on networking applications.
This transceiver operates from a single 5V supply and is designed to handle the harsh electrical environment of a CAN bus, with ±58V DC fault protection on the bus pins (CANH, CANL) and ±8 kV ESD protection (HBM) to ensure maximum system robustness. Its advanced features include a high level of DC and AC EMC performance, unpowered bus and I/O tolerance, and a thermal shutdown function. The RXD output is push-pull, eliminating the need for an external pull-up resistor. It supports a wide common-mode voltage range on the bus pins (±30V), allowing it to handle significant ground offsets, and offers a typical loop delay of 135 ns, ensuring reliable timing for CAN FD communication.
