TJA1042TK/3,118 High-Speed Automotive CAN Transceiver Half CANbus 8-HVSON

The TJA1042TK/3,118 is a high-performance third-generation high-speed CAN transceiver from NXP Semiconductors, specifically designed for automotive electronic applications. Fully compliant with ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284 standards, it serves as a critical bridge between CAN protocol controllers and the physical two-wire CAN bus, converting MCU logic levels to differential CAN signals and vice versa. Supporting up to 5Mbps data rate (compatible with CAN FD fast phase), it features a VIO pin for direct interfacing with 3.3V-5V microcontrollers, ultra-low 2μA standby current with bus wake-up capability, and ideal passive bus behavior when powered off. 

Operating at 4.5V-5.5V supply voltage, the TJA1042TK/3,118 operates reliably across -40°C to 150°C automotive temperature range, suitable for 12V and 24V vehicle systems. It boasts ±8kV ESD protection on bus pins, ±58V bus voltage robustness, and meets IEC 62228-3 and SAE J2962-2 EMC standards for low electromagnetic emission and high immunity. Equipped with comprehensive fault protection (overtemperature, bus short-circuit, battery reverse connection, dominant timeout, UVLO), it has 120mV receiver hysteresis for stable signal reception and predictable fail-safe behavior under all supply conditions.
