The ISL31490EIRTZ-T is a robust, 5V-powered differential transceiver engineered by Renesas Electronics (formerly Intersil) that exceeds the RS-485 and RS-422 standards for balanced communication. Housed in a compact 10-lead TDFN package measuring 3mm x 3mm with an exposed pad for enhanced thermal dissipation, this full-duplex device integrates one driver and one receiver into a single monolithic chip.
The ISL31490EIRTZ-T operates from a single 5V supply voltage ranging from 4.5V to 5.5V and supports a data rate of 250kbps. The device features an exceptionally low quiescent supply current of just 2.3mA, with an ultra-low shutdown supply current of 10μA for maximum power savings in battery-powered applications. The receiver inputs incorporate 25mV of hysteresis for improved noise immunity. The transmitter delivers an exceptional 2.5V (typical) differential output voltage into the RS-485-specified 54Ω load, providing superior noise immunity compared to standard RS-485 ICs. The device supports up to 128 devices on the bus through its 1/4 unit-load receiver input impedance.
