L6562DTR PFC IC Discontinuous (Transition) 1MHz 8-SOIC

The L6562DTR is a transition-mode, current-mode PFC controller manufactured by STMicroelectronics and shipped in an 8-pin SOIC package with tape-and-reel (T&R) packaging. Designed for surface-mount power supply front-ends, it operates from a supply voltage range of 10.3V to 22V, switches at frequencies up to 1MHz, and is rated for an operating temperature range of -25°C to 125°C. Pin-to-pin compatible with its predecessor L6561, the device integrates a voltage-mode error amplifier, a highly linear proprietary multiplier, zero-current detection circuitry, and a totem-pole gate driver, forming a complete control engine for boost-type PFC pre-regulators in compact, efficient AC-DC power supplies.

This controller distinguishes itself through a combination of precision, protection, and power-efficient innovations. Its proprietary multiplier incorporates a dedicated circuit that minimizes AC input current distortion, enabling wide-range mains operation with extremely low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) across a broad load range. Key parameters include an ultra-low startup current of 40µA, a low quiescent current of less than 4mA, and a precise 1% internal voltage reference at Tj=25°C. The totem-pole output stage delivers -600mA source and +800mA sink capability, making it suitable for driving large MOSFETs or IGBTs directly.
