VN7140ASTR high-side driver 1:1 N-Channel 8A

The VN7140ASTR is a single-channel smart high-side driver from STMicroelectronics, built on the proprietary VIPower M0-7 technology and housed in a compact SO-8 package. Designed specifically for automotive environments, it drives 12V grounded loads through a 3V/5V CMOS-compatible interface while delivering comprehensive protection and diagnostic capabilities. The device operates across a 4V to 28V load voltage range, with a maximum transient supply voltage of 40V, a typical on-state resistance of 140mΩ, and a maximum continuous output current of 8A. Fully AEC-Q100 qualified and RoHS compliant, the VN7140ASTR combines very low standby current, typically up to 0.5µA, with advanced analog sensing to meet the rigorous demands of modern automotive electronic control modules.

The VN7140ASTR is engineered to drive all types of automotive resistive, inductive, and capacitive grounded loads. It is particularly optimized for automotive signal lamps, including bulbs up to R10W and LED rear combination lights. Beyond lighting, the device serves as a protected power supply for ADAS subsystems such as radars and sensors, where precise load monitoring and fault isolation are critical. Its compact SO-8 footprint, low standby current, and rich diagnostics make it an ideal choice for space-constrained body control modules, comfort ECUs, and safety-related automotive electronic units that require both high reliability and design flexibility.
