The BQ79616PAPRQ1 is a high-precision, ASIL-D compliant 16-cell battery management IC from Texas Instruments, designed for high-voltage battery systems in electric and hybrid vehicles. It supports up to 16 series-connected cells, offering accurate voltage and temperature monitoring, integrated cell balancing, and hardware-based protection features. Housed in a 64-HTQFP (10×10mm) package, it operates from 9V to 80V and is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive grade 1 (-40°C to +125°C).

This IC delivers exceptional performance with ±1.5mV ADC accuracy, measuring all 16 cell voltages in just 128µs. It integrates 240mA cell balancing with thermal management, configurable digital low-pass filters, and redundant voltage/temperature diagnostics. The device supports SPI and daisy-chain communication, includes hardware overvoltage/undervoltage/overtemperature protection, and features a host-controlled reset. It is fully compliant with ISO 26262 ASIL-D, ensuring robust functional safety for critical automotive applications.
