INA220BIDGSR Digital Current and Power Monitor  High/Low-Side 10mA 10-VSSOP

The INA220BIDGSR is a high-precision, bi-directional digital current and power monitor with an I2C-compatible interface from Texas Instruments. This digital monitor integrates a low-drift, programmable gain amplifier, a high-resolution ADC, and a precision shunt voltage reference to accurately measure current, bus voltage, and calculate power. Operating from a single 3V to 5.5V supply, it monitors a shunt resistor across a common-mode bus voltage ranging from 0V to 26V, making it ideal for system monitoring, battery management, and power optimization in a wide array of applications from industrial controls to portable electronics. Its digital output provides robust noise immunity and simplifies interfacing with microcontrollers.

INA220BIDGSR digital monitor Applications

● Battery Management & Portable Devices: Monitors charge/discharge current, voltage, and calculates remaining capacity in laptops, power tools, and e-bikes.

● Server & Telecom Power Rails: Provides real-time telemetry for individual voltage rails in data center servers, routers, and switches for health monitoring.

● Motor Control & Drives: Measures phase or total current in industrial motor drives and robotics for torque control, efficiency calculation, and overload protection.

● Solar Inverters & Power Supplies: Tracks input/output current and power in renewable energy systems and switch-mode power supplies for performance analytics.

● Embedded Computing & FPGAs: Monitors core and I/O power consumption of processors and FPGAs for thermal management and power budgeting.

Alternative current monitor Models

1. Analog Devices LTC2947: A high-precision power and energy monitor with a wide input range and integrated sense resistor, offering higher accuracy for critical measurements.

2. Maxim Integrated MAX34407: A digital power monitor with similar I2C interface but higher 16-bit resolution for current and voltage, targeting server and telecom applications.

3. Microchip PAC1934: A quad-channel DC power/energy monitor with accumulator, automatic sample rate control, and alert functions for multi-rail systems.
