LM317MKVURG3 Adjustable Positive Linear Regulator IC 500mA

The LM317MKVURG3 is a high-reliability adjustable positive linear voltage regulator manufactured by Texas Instruments (TI), designed for flexible power supply solutions in industrial, consumer, and embedded applications. Housed in a 3-pin TO-252 surface-mount package (6.6×10.11mm footprint), it operates over an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, with a maximum input voltage of 40V and an adjustable output voltage range of 1.25V to 37V, capable of delivering up to 500mA output current. This device features 3% output voltage accuracy, 0.01% typical line regulation, and 0.1% typical load regulation.

Equipped with user-friendly and robust protection features, the LM317MKVURG3 requires only two external resistors to set the desired output voltage, simplifying system design and eliminating the need for multiple fixed-voltage regulators. It integrates internal short-circuit current limiting, thermal overload protection, and output transistor safe-area compensation, making it essentially blow-out proof and suitable for harsh operating environments. As a floating regulator with no dedicated ground pin, its quiescent current flows to the load rather than being dissipated, enabling high-voltage floating operation if the input-output differential remains below 40V. It operates stably without an output capacitor, though adding one improves transient response, and supports ceramic capacitors with minimal output ringing.
