LM5007MMX/NOPB switching regulator 2.5V 1 Output 500mA

The LM5007MMX/NOPB is a high-performance, non-synchronous step-down switching regulator designed by TI for cost-effective and efficient DC-DC power conversion. Operating with an input voltage range of 9V to 75V, it delivers a regulated output voltage adjustable from 2.5V to 73V at up to 500mA continuous current. The regulator chip integrates an 80V, 0.7A N-channel MOSFET, eliminating the need for external power switches, and features a hysteretic control architecture that ensures near-constant switching frequency (380kHz typical) despite variations in input voltage or load. This design provides ultra-fast transient response without requiring loop compensation, making it ideal for applications demanding stability under dynamic conditions.

Additional features include low quiescent current, precision 2.5V reference, and robust protection mechanisms such as thermal shutdown, VCC/gate drive undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and smart current limiting with forced shutdown time inversely proportional to VOUT to minimize current foldback during short circuits. The chip is available in compact 8-pin VSSOP (3x3mm) and WSON (thermal-enhanced) packages, supporting surface-mount assembly for space-constrained designs.

LM5007MMX/NOPB step-down regulator Applications

1. Automotive Systems: 12V/24V/48V battery-powered devices, including infotainment, sensors, and lighting.

2. Industrial Power Supplies: Non-isolated DC-DC converters for PLCs, motor drives, and telecom equipment.

3. High-Voltage Post-Regulation: Secondary-side stabilization in isolated power supplies (e.g., 48V→12V conversion).

4. Battery-Operated Devices: Step-down from high-voltage batteries (e.g., 72V Li-ion packs) to low-voltage electronics.

5. Bias Supplies: Generating stable voltages for gate drivers, op-amps, or other power-sensitive components.

Alternative step-down regulator models

● LM2576T-ADJ/NOPB: A 3A adjustable step-down regulator with 40V input, suitable for medium-current applications but lacks TI's hysteretic control for frequency stability.

● TPS5430DDAR: A 3A synchronous buck converter with 5.5V–36V input, offering higher current but requiring external compensation and more complex design.

● LM5116MHX/NOPB: A 1.5A synchronous controller with 100V input, ideal for high-voltage systems but demands external MOSFETs, increasing BOM cost.

● MIC2886YML-TR: A 600mA non-synchronous regulator with 40V input, featuring similar current capability but narrower input range and lower efficiency.
