The LM35 series products are high-precision integrated circuit temperature devices, and their output voltage is linearly proportional to the Celsius temperature. The advantage of the LM35 device over linear temperature sensors calibrated in Kelvin is that the user does not need to subtract a large constant voltage value from the output voltage to easily achieve Celsius adjustment. The LM35 device does not require any external calibration or trimming and provides ±¼°C typical accuracy at room temperature and ±¾°C accuracy over the full −55°C to +150°C temperature range. Wafer-level trimming and calibration ensures lower costs. The LM35 device's low output impedance, linear output, and high-accuracy intrinsic calibration features make interfacing to read or control circuits extremely simple. The device can operate from a single supply or positive and negative supplies. Because the LM35 device draws only 60µA from the power supply, it has extremely low self-heating of less than 0.1°C in still air. The LM35 device is specified over the temperature range of −55°C to 150°C, and the LM35C device is specified over the temperature range of −40°C to 110°C (at −10° for better accuracy). The LM35 series devices are available in a hermetic TO transistor package and the LM35C, LM35CA and LM35D devices are available in a plastic TO-92 transistor package. The LM35D device is available in 8-lead surface mount small outline and plastic TO-220 packages.
