TL084CN TI Quad J-FET Amplifier 414-PDIP

The TL084CN is a widely used quad operational amplifier manufactured by Texas Instruments, featuring four independent JFET-input op-amp channels housed in a standard 14-pin PDIP package. Each channel offers a wide input voltage range of ±15V, high input impedance exceeding 10^12 ohms due to its JFET input stage, and a typical input bias current of only 50pA, making it exceptionally suitable for high-impedance signal conditioning. The TL084CN delivers a slew rate of 13V/µs, a gain-bandwidth product of 3MHz, and a unity-gain bandwidth that ensures stable performance across a broad frequency spectrum. Operating from a dual supply of ±5V to ±15V or single supply configurations, this device consumes low quiescent current of approximately 700µA per amplifier while providing output drive capability of ±10mA.

The TL084CN excels with its JFET input architecture that provides ultra-low input bias current, low input offset voltage of 3mV typical, and low noise performance of 18nV/√Hz, ensuring precision in analog signal processing. Key features include internally compensated unity-gain stability, common-mode input voltage range extending to the negative rail, high CMRR of 100dB, and output short-circuit protection for robust operation. Applications are extensive, spanning active filters and equalizers, instrumentation amplifiers, integrators and differentiators, audio preamplifiers, sensor signal conditioning, waveform generators, voltage followers, summing amplifiers, industrial process control, medical instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and general-purpose analog circuit design where low cost and quad integration matter most.
