The TL16C550CIPTR is a high-performance single-channel UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) from Texas Instruments, packaged in a compact 48-LQFP  for surface-mount integration in space-constrained communication systems. As an enhanced variant of the TL16C450, it executes full serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial data conversion, supporting data rates up to 1Mbps with a 16MHz clock input. Operating from a 3V–5.25V supply, it integrates 16-byte transmit/receive FIFOs, automatic hardware flow control (RTS/CTS), and a prioritized interrupt system, reducing CPU overhead for asynchronous communication interfaces. With industrial-grade operation from –40°C to +85°C, false start bit detection, and comprehensive modem control signals, it serves as a robust bridge between microcontrollers and serial peripherals in mixed-voltage embedded designs.
