The UPSD3333DV-40U6 is a versatile and integrated microcontroller solution from STMicroelectronics, belonging to the uPSD (Programmable System Device) family. It combines a high-performance 8-bit 8032 core—a derivative of the industry-standard 8051 architecture—with a sophisticated dual-bank Flash memory system and configurable programmable logic on a single chip. Designed to operate at a clock speed of up to 40 MHz, this device provides a significant upgrade in performance and integration over classic 8051 MCUs. Its defining feature is the integration of a Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) and extensive on-chip memory, which reduces component count and board space. It is engineered for embedded systems requiring a blend of deterministic real-time control, flexible I/O expansion, and the ability for in-field firmware updates, making it suitable for complex applications in industrial control, automotive systems, and intelligent interfaces.

The microcontroller core is based on the 8032 architecture, offering full 8051 instruction set compatibility with enhanced performance. The memory subsystem includes 256 KB of primary Flash memory, 32 KB of secondary Flash, and 8 KB of SRAM, managed by an integrated Memory Management Unit (MMU) for efficient access. The on-chip CPLD provides 3,000 usable gates, allowing designers to implement custom combinational and sequential logic, thereby replacing external glue logic and simplifying system design. Additional integrated peripherals include a 10-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) with 8 channels, two UARTs for serial communication, an I2C interface, and multiple 16-bit timers.
