THS6222IRHFR Differential Line Driver Amplifier

The THS6222IRHFR is a high-performance differential line driver amplifier designed for broadband, high-speed power line communication (HPLC) and digital subscriber line (DSL) applications.  Built on Texas Instruments’ proprietary silicon-germanium (SiGe) process, it combines a current-feedback architecture with ultra-low quiescent current (19.5 mA in full-bias mode) to deliver exceptional linearity and dynamic range.  Key specifications include a 195 MHz large-signal bandwidth (16 VPP output), 5,500 V/μs slew rate, and −80 dBc HD2/−90 dBc HD3 distortion at 1 MHz under 50 Ω loads.  The device supports 32 V power supplies, enabling a 57 VPP output swing (100 Ω load) and 650 mA peak current drive (25 Ω load), making it ideal for driving heavy line loads with minimal signal degradation.

THS6222IRHFR integrates advanced power-saving features to optimize energy consumption in time-division multiplexing (TDM) systems.  Its adjustable bias modes (full/mid/low-bias and shutdown) allow dynamic power scaling, reducing current draw to 10.4 mA in low-bias mode and <1 μA in shutdown.  The IADJ pin enables fine-tuning of nominal current consumption, while the high-output impedance in shutdown mode preserves signal integrity during receive intervals.  Additionally, the integrated mid-supply common-mode buffer eliminates external components, cutting system costs and PCB area by 30% compared to traditional designs.
